Hello, Grade 1 Families,
Learning Intention: I can gather data by sharing answers to questions. I can collaborate to construct a concrete graph using data collected in the learning environment. I can create a pictograph from a concrete graph.
Graphing and data collection is such a fun and interactive way to end our math learning this year. Students learned how to make concrete graphs (using their bodies) and pictographs (using pictures) from data they collected from surveys they made! Wow! During this learning, I look to see if students can set up a survey, ask their peers their question and use tally marks appropriately. Once we have data, I am looking for students to identify a title of their graph, label their choices and graph their data. Students used their tally marks or graphs to identify which choice was selected most often and which was selected least often.
Classroom Camping! What a fun way to learn about our Provincial and National parks, read camping stories, and collaborate with teammates in building a tent! Students had a blast camping in the classroom with their fun snacks and campfire.
I hope you have a wonderful summer! It has been such a pleasure teaching your child this year. Thank you for trusting me and our school with your precious child. I will miss all of my Sibbald friends and hope our paths cross again. Keep up the joy of reading!
Love,
Kristi / Mrs. McKay
