Hello, Grade 1 Families,
Our Learning Intention: I can practice my listening and speaking skills. I can share experiences, ideas, and information with appropriate volume, tone and pace. I can adjust speaking volume, tone, and pace for a variety of situations. I can present stories, songs, poems, or dramatizations individually or as part of a group.
Wow! I am so impressed with our grade 1 class! Everyone participated in our wellness learning, focused on problem-solving with friends, and performed in our presentations to families and both Kindergarten classes. If you were not able to reflect with your child after the presentation, it would be great if you could take a few minutes to ask them about their learning, what was challenging and how they could solve problems with their friends. During this learning, we worked on our well-being goals (mentioned in a previous blog post), writing skills (ex: storyboards for problem-solving and writing our cast bios), art (puppets), oral language skills and math skills (by figuring out how much money we would earn if we had charged for tickets and varying the number of tickets sold and the price of the tickets). Presenting in front of people is scary and our students all did a wonderful job.
Home reading reminder: Please help your child remember to bring their home reading book (decodable book) back to school twice a week. Daily reading is super helpful for their fluency now that we have learned so many spelling patterns.
